Simplicity is a charming lodge, sleeping 8 people. All linen is provided, including towels. The Lodge consists of a large living area, a well equipped kitchen and undercover veranda. A lovely indoor fire place keeps the lodge warm on chilly evenings.

The stone braai area is a wonderful place for friends and family to relax and get away from city life, while listening to the different bird calls, including Wood owls, Nightjars, Scops owls, etc.

The 2020 Nyala Valley official bird count stands at 164 different bird species, so ask for a Nyala Valley bird list on arrival to see how many you can identify.

Some of the birds that can be seen along the river bank are: various Kingfishers, the rare African Fin foot, Yellow Billed ducks, Fish Eagles, Hamerkop, Herons and Dabchicks.

A sighting of the Narina Trogon is every bird lover’s dream and this beautiful bird is very vocal from September to February, and can be heard during this period in the Nyala Valley riverine forests or while canoeing on the river.

There are no dangerous animals in the Nyala Valley so you can get very close to nature, but please be aware of snakes.

3 double canoes are available for visitors to use, which involves a short walk to the river. Please speak to the Manageress in this connection.

Remember to bring all your own food and drinks.
