The Beach House

The Beach House is perfectly situated right on the Port Alfred Beachfront, flanked by unspoilt walking and swimming beaches. We offer tranquil, luxury accommodation in the way of X6 spacious en suite rooms of which some have stunning, almost 180 degree sea views. Our location and warm hospitality are ideal for creating and enhancing a wonderful rest and relaxation time. You will awake to the beautiful sounds of the sea, awaiting a scrumptious full English breakfast. Afterwards, you can relax in the spacious lounge, soak up the sun around the outside pool and large deck area or stroll across the dune onto the beach. For those that are more active, there are various adventure and leisure activities to choose from – our area is truly an outdoor person’s paradise! In 1974 Stanley and Betty Shuttleworth bought the property from Rex Jubb for just R27 000. They named it Woodlands and renovated the small house on the 12 acre land. The Shuttleworths were a fascinating couple. Betty’s garden designs are still evident today in the layout of the garden beds, trees and indigenous bush. She was also famous for her porcelain dolls, which were known as Diaz Dolls. Although the pair travelled abroad extensively, their passion was local. Stanley wrote two books, Kenton Kaleidoscope and The Woodlands Story, exploring the history of the people, land and development of infrastructure of the local community.
